What is wrong with my forearm?
BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS High Quality Supplements For Bodybuilders and Athletes. www.ironmaglabs.com For awhile now whenever I am handling heavy weight with my arms I get pain in my forearm. Its weird. I don't feel any pain when I'm actually holding the weight. But when I let go of the weight and the pressure is off my arm I get an intense sharp aching pain in my forearm. Today it has been worse than ever. My friends and I maxed out benchpressing today and it hurt more than ever. Now whenever I put any pressure on it I get a sharp pain....even when doing pushups. My friends and I were rough housing and I quit because my forearm hurt to much.

If I concentrate really hard and stare into my computer screen, I can see your forearm and tell you what I think is wrong. Can you reach out straight infront of you and see if I can maybe do some muscle testing.....oh wait...go to the doctor. No one can tell you want is wrong with you through the internet.

I've had that from time to time from my heavy benching. I iced my forearms alot and took some ibuprofen. If it is as bad as you say though, you probably should go see the doc

![]() Yeah dude you're either going to have to tough it out and hope it doesn't get worse or go to a doctor. The problem with muscle pain is you can't see anything from an x-ray, you would have to get a CT scan if it's anything serious. It's clearly not a muscle or ligament because that would have constant pain. The tendons are what stretch and relax the most when supporting weight so it sounds like you have put too much strain on that particular tendon and the pain receptors go nuts when you relax and the blood flows back to that area. Stop using that forearm for heavy lifting for a few days. Pride is not worth permanent injury. |

I think he's trying to get a feeling if other people think it is serious. I'm curious as to how people handle this kind of thing (injury).
For me: If can't sleep because of it, it's doctor time. If pain is constant and annoying because it's over 6 (on a 1-10 pain scale), it's doctor time. If it's over 6 off & on and not getting better over 2 weeks... doctor time. If I feel I need to post on the Internet about it... doctor time. ![]() |

I had an almost identical (from your description) thing going on with my forearms when I first started training. If I pressed in along the line of the forearm bone on the little finger side, I could feel a deep seated acute pain, but most of the time (excluding lifting) I couldn't feel any pain or discomfort. I avoided the exercise that aggravated it the most (barbell curls, dumbell curls in my case) and the problem slowly righted itself. It was like yours - didn't hurt until you actually let go - a bit like biting down on a finger nail and then letting go - the pain hits only when you let go.
The Doc prescribed me some ibuprofen, but rest and avoidance was the best cure. |
