I'm not sure, but it sounds like your describing Bench Dips, and not Triceps Dips.
To do Triceps Dips, I purchased two metal for $40 (total) at Home Depot. I also use them for spotting when I bench.
i workout from home and unfortunately all the machines i own do not have the parallel bars to do tricep dips on. so instead, i get a chair, place my hands at the edge with my body in front of the chair and heels of feet propped on another chair, then i dip. is this just as effective as doing parallel bars or should i try and find a way to do them on parallel bars?

I do bench dips, which weirdly enough don't bug my RC like regular dips do.
And yes, I know this is odd.

"Notice the pink towel, it makes all the difference."
Wow, you're damn fine looking.

DOMS - Thank you! That was two years ago in Ohio during "Arnold weekend" with some friends.
natural - my small contribution to the sport.![]()

That wasn't my gym - I live in Vancouver. That was in Ohio.
And I'm not sure how I could do bench dips with weight hanging off a dipping belt. ???
Wow, you are one strong and sleek lady! Doesn't hurt your knees though??

Ever thought about going to a school yard and doing dips there?
Yeah, I did. But the playground monitor called the local cops.
: (

It's not on my knees - it's on my thighs. And thanks!

Do you have a loft?
When i worked out at home i did them in the open hatch that led up to the loft. It may sound dangerous, but just knowing i could fall and break my legs was a great incentive not to go to concentric failure
I jest. I had a ladder.

Built - I do not for one second believe that is really you in the vid.
We need more photographic evidence !
Only kidding of course!
You certainly are a strong one !
I have to do 30+ bench dips (x3) body weight to feel any benefit. Even with a plate across my lap, they are easy.
I guess I need weighted dips on a station to feel effective.

Try two or three plates.
I think bench dips are a shit exercise in general. Like upright rows, they require you to jack your shoulders so far into internal rotation that I can't see it being a good idea. Dips themselves are already a high risk shoulder movement, I don't think you need to be cranking your shoulders in that direction any more.
