Hey man,
Mate, first thing I want to say is this: you obviously dedicated to have such a toned body
Would you be able to tell me what sort of weights you are lifting and how much so I can compare. I am also 17, but am already a pretty big fella (6 foot 2, 106 kilos/235 pounds) so it is hard to find other guys my age to compare myself against.
I don't know how things work with university over in Canada, but I started university over here 3 months after my 17th birthday. I had to make a choice, pursue just my sport ambitions (I was in the state's junior rugby union team when I was 16, so playing guys 2 years older than me was something I was proud of) or try and manage both uni and sport.
Everyone I spoke to said that sport had so much luck involved, with injuries and all that, that it was not always the most talented or dedicated that succeded. Plus, it was useful to have some sort of academic background to fall onto when I was past my sporting peak. Thinking it through, I think this idea is correct. Sure, I don't enjoy uni as much as my sport, but in 20 years time, who is going to care how good I used to be at rugby when I am applying for an office job.
I am still dedicated to my sport, but I don't think work/school can be viewed as an obstacle, as you said it is, if in the long run it will help you out where sport never could. I am not saying that you should stop weights or anything like that, just don't always look in the short term. You obviously have a lot of talent, so it would be a shame to waste it, just don't think weights is the be all and end all.
Cheers.
