    in a wokrout im planning on doing it says to do them. arent crunches only shoulderblades come off the ground?

    Try a rope around the neck again with the weight attached. Works for me.

    core muscles are just like any other.. so you train them like any other muscle group. A few sets (3-4) of 10-20 reps because of their makeup with weights and you'll have a good solid set of abs..

    not to mention when your core gets stronger... so does the rest of ya! The easier it is for your body to support and work with heavy weigth obviously the stronger you get.
