    a little advice...

for those of you who ask someoen to spot you.. make sure that person spotting you knows how to properly spot and then TELL THEM HOW YOU LIKE TO BE SPOTTED WHEN IT COMES TO LIFT OFFS, HAND OUTS, CALLING OUT THE HAND OUTS, TOUCHING THE BAR, ETC.

if you're being asked to spot someone.. ASK HOW THEY LIKE TO BE SPOTTED!!!

almost got my clock cleaned for the second time this past 2 months by morons.. another word of advice.. when you spot someone and hand the bar out.. don't just jerk it off the uprights and PUSH it out over that person.

sorry had to rant..and thanks to this person i'm having to take some time off because i worked over BOTH my shoulders trying to get out from under a falling 385 that the "spotter" just threw at me on the liftoff.

I hope you gave the guy a piece of your mind afterwards. I hate bad spotters.

I had one before when i was going for 8x3 at a PR weight (wasnt much to you, 200lbs or something :P) and i got the 3 reps, and told my spotter i was done, and with him obviously having intricate knowledge of my abilities, recovery rate, program goals and setup, and what i actually wanted, he decides to lay this one on me:

"No, come on, you've got more reps in you yet! Lets do it!"
"No, take the bar, im done."
"Aw come on bro, you can get more reps!"
    "Just take the fucking bar!"
    "Why?"

He actually had an argument with me while i was holding this bar with my PR weight on it, at the end of the the first set of EIGHT SETS. I was fucking knackered, i just racked the damned thing myself. Idiot.

i HATE asking for a spot.
I feel like the whole gym watches me work out but when I ask for a spot, they give me a blank surprised stare.
Ive either gotten lectured on how a girl doesnt need to lift that much weight and I need a lighter weight, OR the guy spotting me does the reps for me with just holding the weight w my hands and no weight.
I try to workout 5 days a week, I have a trainer for 3 days. He spots really awesome, the other 2 days I just dont have a good as workout

HAHA or worse yet.. going for PR's and the guy GRABS THE BAR WHEN YOU'RE FIGHTING THROUGH IT AND RACKS IT FOR YOU! As if workign with heavy weight isn't supposed to make you come up rather slow, especially when it's a new PR!

The only time I don't assist the rack when someone calls out how many reps they want is if they themselves ask for another one. It drives me nutz when someone touches my bar when I know I can get the weight up.

No, not really, but there's this one guy that actually follows me around and shit. I swear he's always near me, often staring at me from behind glass too. He even mimics the exercises I do, fucking tool.

That sucks ryan. I'm glad you didn't get hurt! ....again. A bad handout is worse than no handout at all. This is why I spent about a month setting up a crew back home in MI before I even got there. Fortunatly I got lucky and have an awesome crew right now but I've been in the same spot you are

For awhile at school, the guy who normally did my handouts was really bad. He'd almost wouldn't even really pick up the weight. Another guy up here will just lift up, and then drop it in my hands. Idiots. Some people just don't get it I guess.

do some exercises with bad controlled form if that makes since. that typicaly gets annoying screw heads off your back. i know how far a can rip a wieght with out hurting myself. newbies that are annoying dont. that or you can also show off your strength watch a newbie try and do that. some times that works as well.

dude it's not my first rodeo unfortunately...i'm doing what i can to get them loosened up. They're tighter than a frog's ass when i get a goobered up bench press occassion. At least it wasn't THAT bad and I can work it out wiht myself for a week or so..

learning to handoff and spot should be a pre-req in the gym as far as i'm concerned! HAHA
