What is a "Straight arm pulldown"????????
I got it from a workout Gopro gave me for Back.
Cool![]()

some crap that he made up!![]()
You may be right.![]()
It was kind of funny though, I was asking a couple of other regulars at the gym, I had them trying different stuff with staight arms, people thought we were nuts.![]()
Cool![]()

is it that lat exercise?
if the one i am thinking of, I'm not liking it.
Success leaves clues. People who produce outstanding results do specific things to create those results

If its done with a cable its like a pullover. The exercise I do believe that he trying to tell you about works the lats.
The only thing I could come with was standing in front of the pulldown, arms straight up holding the bar then lowering the bar down to your legs keeping your arms straight, almost the same as a tri pushdown but with a straight arm.

something like a standing pullover with the cables.

That's exactly what it is...it is an exercise for the back and shoulders to a certain extent. It is similar biomechanically to a pullover.
It's a pressdown with your arms fully extended, hence the term straight arm pressdown.
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.
The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.
He called it a pulldown though, not a pressdown. hahahahaha Maybe it was just a typo.![]()
I guess if you did it with a underhand grip it would be a pulldown.

Here it is:
back REP RANGE
-cg T-bar row...3 x 6-8
-WG pulldown...2 x 8-10
-dumbell one arm row...2 x 10-12
-stiff arm pulldown...2 x 12-15
Cool![]()

Sounds more like a pull-over, I thought you would be talking snow angel kind of movements with cables.
he probably said pulldown so you knew what machine to do them on. But yeah you got it right. I hate those things they put alot of stress on the elbows. But they do burn.
"When I use the word intensity I mean the ability to continue past and through the pain barrier where your mind pleads to stop and in fact convinces your body that you have hit failure, but you push through. How far you push through that barrier is the level of intensity with which you train." -- Twin Peak
So we all figure its a standing cable pullover then?![]()
Cool![]()
It is a "PULLDOWN" movement not a pressdown.
Stand facing the weights, stand back some, this ain't like triceps pressdowns. Grab the straight bar and keeping your arms straight pull the bar down and to your thighs...
I have used this as a finish up exercise to back. Takes some mental muscle control to squeeze and feel it. But when done right it does work!
