I think the top priority should be to begin a resistance training protocol. Lift like you are trying to gain mass. Don't fall into that high reps for toning bullshit that a lot of people like to ignorantly spout about. Check the stickies here for a better idea, and post up a program so we can help get you in the right direction.

Next step is getting your diet in order. Head over to the diet and nutrition section on this site, read the stickies, and make a plan that they can help you put together.

Finally you should increase activity levels elsewhere. I think some solid state cardio is fine to begin. You need to build up a base if you haven't been doing any at all. Eventually, I think it's a good idea to incorporate a mixture of higher intensity conditioning work such as sprint protocols and more traditional moderate to lower intensity cardio.

Increasing activity levels by doing things like walking more and all that jazz is also helpful.

If I had one minute to advise someone on how to get in shape, i'd say this:

Two days a week spring up a hill, then rest, then sprint again, et al. for 15-20 minutes. Time it. Record progress.

Two or three days a week work out and increase your load in respect to workouts that last 30 minutes. Focus on compound lifts, rotary machines, and lower body work. Record everything. Maintain progress. Keep volume low as necessary to sustain that progress.

Eat less. Use a positive mindset. Good attitudes reduce stress. Eat well after your workouts and have some good old fashioned refined sugars as well as fast acting protein within an hour.

Definitely further pieces of good advice: hill sprints, lower body work, compound lifts, progression, peri workout nutrition.

i do gym for 2 days and then take a day off. CHEST,ARMS,SHOULDERS,BACK AND LEGS. one week i do dumbbells for my work outs and then i mix it and do barbells the next week. my reps are 12,12,10,10,8. example is dumbbell bench. i would start of with 20kg(12) 25kg(12) 30kg(10) 35kg(10) 40kg(8). no spot.

the way that i eat is.
    7am-protein
    7:30am-6,7 egg whites
10am-tuna,turkey breast,(only one of them and make it into 2 sandwich's)
12:30pm-tuna,turkey breast,(only one of them and make it into 2 sandwich's)
3:30Ppm-1cup oatmeals with milk(thats before workout)
    after workout-protein
1,2 hours later- some type of meat with corn, peas and sweet potato.

because i am i student its a bit hard.

I found the best way for me to lose weight was with pushing exercises.

    Pushing the plate away
pushing myself away from the table
    pushing the junk food away

    After that I began doing
