So, you're a great leg presser!

Yup, I know alot of guys that can pile on the weight while doing leg presses...even a few that will actually move the weight more than a half an inch! (but thats a whole other post).

Wanna really seperate the men from the boys? Try em one leg at a time! You'd be suprised how little you could do. Guys that can go full ROM with 10 plates aside often can't do more than 2-3 plates per side for the same reps!

If you try them, expect new soreness in muscles that you never really felt before. And please, use a full ROM...none of that half rep crap.

I did 6 plates per side recently for a set of 8, burying the weight into my chest! Walking was a serious problem after that!

GoPro, when i do these i can only bring my legs back so far and then they wont go back any further. Like my legs themselves stop the weight, It is close to my chest, but is this the normal range of motion?

I hate watching guys with 600 pounds on the leg press moving it 6 inches, and then doing squats with 95 pounds.

There is such a thing as "half squats", but yeah that is not quite there yet

Seriously though. It happens to be great for the knees. The need to stabilize the weight with one leg will really strengthen your knees and increase the recruitment of the gracilis, sartorious, hamstrings, and hip musculature. It is almost like a lunge, but I like them better. It has forced my 2 legged press up by about 180 lbs!

Tried them last night and they were definitely good

Question though...my leg press machine is one where the seat moves instead of the sled (flat back). Would this make a difference is terms of joint angle for proper stimulation?

I did one legged weighted calf raises after just to continue the trend...it was awesome.

Good job pony...as for your leg press machine, I am not sure what you are saying...is it a squat machine and not really a leg press?

By the way...one legged calf raises may be the best calf exercise you can do

I do these regularly. Supposed to help with the inner thigh. I don't have a problem of moving the weight when squatting, it's not a strength issue, but a flexibility issue. I can't get down to 90* unless my legs are much wider than shoulder width apart. I've been stretching and stretching for months, but I still can't get the right range of motion. It's not the AMOUNT of weight, either, because I have this problem with even static squats or just the bar.

    Any ideas?

Actually, after thinking about it, the machine is really a hack squat where you are lying flat on your back...it's one of those old Apex machines from ten years ago. I guess i'm really doing a one-legged hack squat, which probably isn't the same thing.

Its really like a "squat slide" machine. Still, any unilateral movement will provide a new and unique stress to your muscles!

As a leg press nut I'll have to try these tomorrow. I've been looking for something different.
