Question Beginner Advice Needed

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am a highschool student, but not an athlete. I am interested in my health and building my body, and having been running 3 miles a day, doing tae-bo videos, and some exercises on my "home gym" equitment along with swimming. I haven't been able to find the time to organize a schedule, and am very interested in martial arts. There is a Tae-Kwon-Do school very near to me, and I would like to join that also.
What I'm trying to say is I need some advice on weight training and how I can get my body in excellent shape so I could be strong enough to do flips and acrobatics also. I would like to be a stunt double or action film star when I'm older (maybe). I'm 5'10" and 185lbs, so I've always been a big girl, never a gymnast type. I was more of a basketball/volleyball athlete who didn't want to play for the jerk coaches when she first started highschool. Where would you suggest I start to slim down and yet build up?

Thank you SO much,
laracroft44

if you can run , not walk, run, 3 miles, damn.. you're in shape. You just need to work on your diet.

I dont know about that Nick running is not always the answer.

We need your stats LauraC: age, experince in weight training, what you eat in a day (including all portions be as specific as you can be).

Once you lose some bodyfat you will be able to see your muscles better, so you will look alot fuller. You sound like your in shape, so it is most likely what you are eating that is the problem. Nutrition is 70% of the battle.

Everyone can help you out if you give us some info.

....and thats my $.02

Well, I'm 16 and I haven't had much experience with weight training. I almost always have special K with skim milk and OJ for breakfast, usually one of the following sandwiches for lunch: tuna salad sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, or PB&J sandwich along with some kind of fruit (apple, grapefruit, strawberries, etc.), and a pickle.
For dinner it's usually whatever my mom fixes: some type of meat along with veggies, skim milk, and a starch of some kind. Sometimes we have dessert, and I guess I should really lay off of that. I almost never drink soda, and I drink water almost around the clock.
I'm not sure where I should really start with training. HELP!

Just wondering, is that 3 mile a slow 3 mile (21 minutes and up) or fast? If you want to keep running, I think sprint stuff is a more efficient way to burn body fat and build muscle than distance.
