    Loss in strength

    Hi,

I started lifting again and reached muscle failure on the chest. I took a good 6 days on recovering, it doesn't feel sore at all, just a little tight, and when I tried benching again today, I wasn't even able to bench my regular warm up of 135. It feels like there is no strength in that muscle and the strangest thing is, it doesn't hurt. Can someone tell me what is wrong with me? Has this happened to any of you before?

    Thanks

No sickness or change in health or diet. That is what bothers me.

I wouldn't get discouraged from less than expected results in just one week. Next week you might do better than expected.

hmmm...I guess I worded this wrong. Last Monday 7/14, I started working out again after years of inactivity. I worked my chest until muscle failure (12 x 135 / 8 x 155 / 6 x 185 ) and did other exercises. I allowed it to rest for quite a while until there is no pain or soreness left. I tried benching today 7/23 and I couldn't even bench 75 lbs. Everyday I wake up, it feels like there is no strength in my triceps and chest muscle but yet I can still do military press and biceps at the regular weight. What is going on with me? Is this normal? My weight lifting partner though it was kind of strange also.

    Thanks for reading this =)

Just a guess here but it sounds like you may have changed up your technique or form. You may have been doing it correctly the first attempt and not realized it then changed up on hand positioning on the bar for example.

To me it sounds with-in those six day you changed your diet and a couple of vitamins your body is use to receiving were abruptly cut off. This can happen to anyone, my suggestion is that use a supplement that help you body obtain the vitamins it needs when you don't eat properly. One I use along with almost all the builders in my gym is Recovsport by Stolle Wellness its a natural it support recovery from strenuous exercise as well as boost energy levels

This makes no sense. You were getting 6 reps at 185lbs and you can't do a single 75lb rep? I am I reading these correctly? If so that is not normal muscle fatigue especially after having 6 days off. If you chest is that weak there is a serious problem. You say there is no pain?

make sure you are eating a good meal before you lift, when i dont eat for the day then go try to lift my max goes down by around 60-70 pounds.... eat foods that are good for you and sleep for atleast 8-9 hours a night so you muscles may fully recover
