Toungue (¯`·.¸¸.·´¯ 198lbs - and wanting to get serious ¯`·.¸¸.·´¯)

Hey all

Been a while since i have been here, but well,

Since Early April i have put on 20+lbs, so i am now 198lbs last weighed.

I will be getting some money soon, as all my big expenses have been covered (bills, flying friends in to see me etc) and am looking to take things more serious now, in terms of shaping up.

I do not want like hardcore body builder stlye, but a nice nice, more cut, but with a decent size.

I am not too sure of goals yet, as i am looking for pictures and stuff of people my size to see what i want, or something to aim for. (any places i can look specifically?) I am thinking perhaps around 210 - 220lbs?

SOOOOO!!


  • 1. Where is a good online place to buy Gym equipment? There was one place that would deliver here, but i don't remember the name... any would be good that has a good name, and will deliver and not screw me over.
    I am looking to get like a "home" gym, or something likely to get me started, i can spend about $1000US give or take $500 - Any suggestions?

    2. Measurements - ?? - this is all fairly new to me, and i have read up, but am still some what lost -
    a) Is there a "newbie kit" or something to which i can obtain to measure body fat and such?


    3. Suppliments and such - Do i need them? Since i am just starting, are they really needed, or are they something i just look into further down once i start to develope more?




All input is useful, i am currently going via the nutrition area getting everything down, for shopping tommora

And after 2 weeks with a female friend, i feel dam good! and ready to go, and i think i lost a few pounds from it..lol

Tanita makes the best bodyfat scale out there, the new model actually comes with a goal setting telling you how many calories you should eat to get to where you want to go.

You do not need to take supplements and shouldnt until you get your diet and training in order.

I suggest you get a regular tape measure to take your measurements. Dont count on the scale giving you the answers you want its bodyfat % and inches that should determine how your doing not your weight.

You need to post your information so we can help you get your diet in order. What you eat at each meal and when and how much (be as specific as possible). The more honest you are the easier it will be on you.
How old are you?

sounds good

i haven't been keeping too much track of things, just been recent to get serious.

To give a shoirt run down

I am 22.

I work from 6pm - 3am usually so i get to bed around 5am, or 6am and wake up often around 1-2pm, but am changing this so i go to bed around 4am, and get up around 11, or noon.

My meals:

Most of my meals i make myself are either

Chicken / steak / pork chops with steamed veggies | peppers (all colours) - brocoli - Zuchini - Parsnips (white carrots), and maybe some potat's.

As for the meat portions -

2 skinless / boneless chicken pieces, mmm dunno exact size, i woul say your standard grocery store size....? - Need to buy a scale, will try to tommora to geta exact weight.

Steak - 2 strips, about 3 " wide, and like 5 long, 1/2" thick

Pork chops - medium size, usually 2 per meal.



If not that then a Stirfry

White rice (usually 2-3 cups) / red - green - yellow peppers (1 of each) - a whole onion or 2, half a clove of garlic.

For small things, i usually just make a sandwich, with packaged meats, and a slice of cheese and mustard.

I will be gett'n more into veggie sticks and things for between meals, instead of sandwiches, or buying sliced meats form teh deli area.

Also, cutting back large on the hamburgers and fries from the grill down the street!

As for liquid. i LOVE milk, but may be going lactose intolerant , and i buy alot fo Dole juices, and am heading off of the coke! drink too much of that.

that is mainly it, i eat simple recently, same things every week, but just went to the nutrition area, and got alot of new stuff to try....

k, i am now thinking that $2k will be my limit for this purchase, whatever it may be.... any suggestions on what i should get? Some which i can do a good variety of workouts on, right now i am more into getting some form, and shape going....

as well as any input to the other above stuff..

Well, i am going to be living in Costa rica in 2 days - and the new house has a pool, so this will help ALOT!

i am now upto 209lbs - i have not been doing any routines lately - been slacking off large!

i know i know! shame shame.

but now that i can actually get gym equipment, and not have to pay $1k for shipping, and another $1k Duty on it, i can truely get serious to improve myself now.!
