uber confused - once or 2/3x a week per muscle?

    Hi all

I'm just getting into training and I'm keen to do it sensibly and stocked up on facts and help from helpful people like on this forum.

But one thing I just don't get is: do each muscle once or 2/3 times a week? I'm doing this routine, which I understand to be one focusing on compounds:

Bodybuilding.com - Mike Mahler - Workout Less & Achieve More.

Some people on forums have told me it's fine but I should consider doing it 3, not 2 (as the author suggests), times a week.

Since the 2 parts of this routine are quite similar and a lot of the muscles are worked in both parts, this means I'm training each one multiple times a week, not once. Yet the consensus when I look around the forums is that once a week is plenty per muscle.

Is this an argument that rages on, or is one or the other right?

    Yours in confusion

    Day 1:
    A-1: Bench Press
    A-2: Bent-over Row
    B-1: Barbell Squat
    B-2: Stiff-legged Deadlift

    Day 2:
    A-1: Standing Shoulder Press
    A-2: Pull-up
    B-1: Stiff Legged Deadlift
    B-2: Barbell Squat

since it's structured like this, with squats and stiff legs on both days, I'd only go twice a week. They're pretty taxing and your body needs time to recover from them.
