heavy pull movements (arms dead before back)

On heavy back days where I go as low as 4-6 reps for pulling movements (pulldowns, db rows ect), my arms seem to be getting the bulk of the workout. Could it just be my form? I feel like I get a better back workout using lighter weights and higher reps. Anyone else have this problem?

Your arms just might not be adapted to the heavier weight yet, or maybe you are not ready for that heavier weight yet. And it absolutely could be your form, do the heaviest weight that you can BUT while maintaining perfect form.

Also really focus on pulling with the target muscle group, don't just go through the motions. For example while doing pullups, I may be using my arms because it's a necessity but I am focusing entirely on squeezing with my lats. It might be a mental change that needs to happen as well.

I know with bent over rows the amount of arm involved is totally dependent on my form and more specifically where my elbows are. If theyre even a tad out from my sides my back feels none of the effort.

Agree with what danzik said - check your weights, check your form, keep your mind in check.

Thanks for the advice guys. I actually tried using a few of the hammer strength machines (lat pulldown, low row) today and felt like I got a much better workout compared to when I use the cable row and pulldown machines. I guess I''ll have to pay more attention to my form when doing db rows.

Thanks
