what I like about my gym

When I walk in every morning, they know me and greet me by name. I like that.

When I worked out at Bally's, I'd be lucky to get a grunt and a frown from the loser working the counter.

There are enough threads about gym rants. What do you like about your gym?

I workout at a Powerhouse. The place is immaculate! Clean, organized, and well run.

I like the fact that from 7am to 9am there's maybe 3-5 people working out so I don't have to wait for anything and people don't give me a hard time about doing super sets with more than one peice of equipment.

I also enjoy looking at the PT there with the nice rack!

75% of the girls in my gym are either strippers or show girls. it makes training going to the gym very a very easy decsision !
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

What I like about my gym is that I RUN IT! I set the rules, and if someone pisses me off I deal with them my way...plus it is empty at certain hours of the day when the employees are all working...I can work out and blast my music without worrying about it.
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.

The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.

    I have 3 memberships

Ballys is where I work out at lunch, I like it because it is close to where I work. Ballys is really going downhill at least here in San Antonio.

Home Court America is really really nice and clean, beautiful equipment, free kickboxing, spinning, bootcamp all unlike Ballys. The weights are really nice also.

Olympic This is where I workout with Jill my trainer. It is old, the equipment is old, but it is definately a bodybuilder gym. They all seem to be on steroids and I feel like humming "Eye of the Tiger" from Rocky III whenever I am there.

    Gold's, right? Which one?????

    1) I like the membership fee. (There isn't one)
    2) LOTS of weights.
    3) Relatively new equipment including Hammer Strength.
    4) MOST people are respectful of other members by putting away weights and not hogging machines.
    5) The shower has NEVER run out of hot water!!!

I like my gym because the only people in the weight room at 6AM are people who are serious. The people who sit on machines and only go through the motions dont come in till later on in the morning.

open 0530(usually earlier) - 2000 m-f and open on weekends. mostly bb's but pwer lftrs and people serious about getting in shape also. all ages from my son(14) to a world record holder in the deadlift for women(63) and on up. not really a socializing place but the people are nice and the women are great to look at(saw what zena would look like if she was 36dd ). the owner sponsors bb meet's like the excalibur on aug 3. most of the time the music is metal but they also give the classic rock a ride. if you're ever in the charleston,sc area stop by tre's gym. you'll like it

    What I like:
    1. Open at 6:00 and most students don't get up that early + no yack yack
    2. We have a squat rack weeeeeeeeeee
    3. Nobody usually bothers you
    4. Some girls actually get up that early.

    What I don't like:
    1. Some people that come that early, like to put 20 pounds on a bar and squat (if you can call it that).
    2. I think there is a Gay Mafia there... ahhhh! j/k hopefully not!
    3. They like playing slow music in the morning.....zzzzzzzzzz

I like my gym because we all help one another and we're all like family! Sure, there are some knuckleheads but they are so invisble when family is around!

I work out at Gold's Gym in South Florida.

I like my gym (here in sydney Australia).
The equipment is pretty old but everything you need is there and the fees are cheap.
I think a good gym (besides having the basics of must have equipment, space, music etc) has an atmosphere of mutual respect. That is to say that everyone who trains respects everyone elses right to train and what they do. Whether your a 280 lb hulk (maybe green) or an old granny trying to increase bone density and muscle mass or whatever. Sure some gyms seem to collect the let's say........unatural types.....who all pose in the mirrors together straight after benching a PB. But some gyms do have a great atmosphere and much motivation can be gained by being amongst that.

Sahara and Decatur, right? Actually there's one closer to the part of town I'm looking at, it's off W. Lake Meade Blvd. I think the cross street is Buffalo. I'm not gonna make any decisions until I actually get hired and buy a house, then I'll see what's best and closest.

P.S. That doesn't mean I'd be opposed to a little road trip to teach you a thing or two.

Because its freaking packed the rest of the day. I hear its ok 2-4pm, but I'm working at that time (or surfing the internet, however you look at it).

I used to be able to go at 10:30 PM, but that was years ago.

What I like best about my gym?

It's in my garage, never anyone there but myself and I play the music I want to hear
I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds.
