Rotator cuff injury...What workouts can I do?

    Hey everyone,

I injured my rotator cuff a few days ago. I don't know the extent of the injury yet, but will probably get an MRI done on Monday. What workouts can I do (besides legs and cardio) that will help me preserve my upper body strength?

find out what is injured...the rotator cuff is made up of 4 muscles. get the results from the MRI.

    how did you do it?

    what movements hurt it?

you need to get yourself to a physcial therapist who can evaluate your individual issue and help you with a treatment plan.

I was at batting practice for a softball league. It is a slow pitch league, so the balls were coming in high. One pitch came high and inside and when I swung I felt a small sting in my shoulder. The pain went away, and a few pitches later, another high and inside pitch came and I swung again at it. Another sting hit was felt (much more pain) and it ended me.

The doc said if the pain doesn't go away by Monday, then I need to get an MRI done. And the pain hasn't gone away, though it feels much better.

Right now the only movements that hurt it is when I put my arm out laterally and point my thumb down. Which is the test I did at the doc's office. But I can raise my shoulder up without any more pain. And if I try and take a swinging motion such as one in baseball or golf, I can feel some strain on it.

I only iced it a few hours after it happened. The doc put me on anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxers which seem to have ease the pain quite a bit.
