    Leg Press forms

Besides the one legged leg press, I've seen so many different things on the vertical leg press.

Is their a true foot position for the leg press besides toes outward or parallel? What I'm trying to say is distance. I've seen one with his feet practically together which I think is limited motion and some with a narrow placing which too, will be limited. Does the Quad/knee area have to touch the stomach/chest area to be truly effective?

the wider and higher on the platform the more hip and glutes will be used. when feet are together and low on the platform the emphasis is placed on the quads.

Using full ROM works the best, but you only want to come down far enough as to not make your back lift off the pad and round. if you can keep good form and bring the knees to the chest that will provide the best results.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

And if you go low as you described and heavy aren't you affecting the knees? Maybe that's why I see a lot of guys wearing knee wraps!

I'm going to try those! Thanks!

If your knees are getting sore, try NOT to lock out at the top of the movement, makes all the difference.
    Cool

different positions will hit abit more in some spots. you'll feel it. remember, never lock out at the top. keep a slight bed in the knees, this way you'll always have resistance on the muscle........

I do leg press the same as squats, a shoulder width stance and toes pointed slightly outward.

I always wonder if a person who has a protuding belly from eating too much (overweight) or bloated (severe), how in the world he could have his knees hit his chest. It's more than obvious if you just press inches, then your working your calves (hopefully) but If you go at least as far as you can go, you should get some type of benefit.

Ditto, I dont play with foot positions on this one actually, just one lazy stance and get it done.

I move my knees outwards a tad, I just try not to roll on my back so much that I would end up hurting my lower-back.
