*Serious Question!* Anyone smoke pot and train?

Does anyone here lift weights, play sports or do cardio after smoking weed? I realize this may sound juvenile, but I smoked with a couple friends the other day (I dont really smoke anymore... i havent in over a year). and I went to the gym and lifted and MAN.... that was truley the best workout ive had in... well, longer than I can remember. Every single rep, every set, every time I brought the weight up I felt the blood rushing through my muscles, the steel on my hands... it was intense. Whats better is AFTER my intense workout, where I had more perfect form than I have ever had, I ran 5 miles and I loved it. So much so, that even though I quit smoking, I am probly gonna keep a stash for days that I dont feel like working out, smoke a small, small joint and head to the gym.

Also, that same day, I smoked a bit more (some of my friends are big time stoners... its not good) and we played a nice game of soccer and I was running full speed, faster and longer than all those guys, for well over an hour. I was pouring sweat afterwards, and again, it was probly the best workout ive had in ages.

I dont want to use this as a scapegoat to start smoking alot more weed, and I will never get to the point of being a "stoner' again. But DAMN, who needs creatine or supplements to get pumped up when u can smoke a doob and get the same effects? Those two workouts (weight training and soccer) were the best Ive had in a long time... Anyone else experience anything similar? Thoughts?

Heh just today I smoked pot with some friends and today was a work out day and I ended up not going because I felt so lazy with the weed in my system. Now I got to wake up tomorrow at 8am to go to they gym since they close very early. I guess for you it works but not for me.

Yes. Weed was the most powerful addition to my training ever. I training harder, longer, and with more focus and control when I am baked out of my mind. So many people will say no or that it can't, but only because they never tried.

can u lose weight by smoking marijuana?

Never did it, but have always been curious. If it works for you, go for it.

Facts that are pretty well known:
Pot alleviates symptoms of muscle pain, also increaces appetite.
So yea I guess it would help out in training.
I don't smoke anything for the odvious health reasons, and never even had the desire to try it but like fufu said if it works for you...

I would only be cautious about BP. I've read that it can raise your blood pressure but I'm no weed specialist so I dont know. And of course something like heavy bench or anything needing too much coordination i would stay away from. But hey like the others say if it works for you. However, if you do get some bad side effect or something happens then remember that youre a grown ass man/woman who made the decision. I would only bet that it would become less and less effective over time like most weed situations.

Weed helps me most on controlled movements such as benchpress, squat, and deadlifts. I maybe be some sort of genetic freak on this one, because I do not suffer loss of motor controls like so many people suggest. One of my best friends is a body builder, help fanatic, and a pothead. He also does not have decreased motor controls.

But, you are right about the BP. weed raises the hell out of my BP. That is one reason I don't smoke a lot anymore. It helps my weight training, but it makes cardio harder.

i smoke a lot of weed and still train. i do train harder while im high, but getting my ass to the gym is hard sometimes. once im there, its all systems go. one thing though, weed raises estrogen levels. not the best thing for muscle growth, but not gonna stop me from sparking up

only thing i can say is that if it works for you, and doesnt work against you, who gives a fuck what other people think?

    that being said...
    be careful

most people ive been around who were high, thought they are witty and thought they were skillful at shit, but were definitely lacking in excicution of actions and verbal punctuality

meaning... it may be possible, that you just THOUGHT it was a killer workout, and in actuality, you were risking injuries and using bad form like never before...

    just my thoughts
but that may not be the case, and if it works for you go ahead

Brain chemistry determines how pot gets processed, and what chemicals are produced as the weed gets smoked determines how your body is going to act under the influence. That makes this question unanswerable by most of the members here who have gotten baked then trained. It worked for them, but you may have a different 'ism/disorder/dysfunction/ or be completely normal and still it'll be all different. I was always baked at 19 or 20 when I trained and always had a great workout. Now? Fagetaboutit.

That is a very logical thought out answer. All I can say is numbers don't lie. I lift more when I am high.

Never smoked and lifted. But when I was in high school a few friends and I would toke up and play huge soccer and football games and it would feel like I was playing much better, making crazy catches, running faster, longer, and so on.

That's funny I was going to say the opposite thing. I love being in nature when I'm high, and running feels good. So sometimes on a beautiful day, I will toke up and go for a long walk/run through the woods. Swimming is awesome too while high.

But I avoid going to the gym high. I used to lift high occasionally when I had a home gym, and it did seem to help me stick to proper form. However in the long run it didn't really help, and I think it does affect my motivation to go to the gym. Not the best stoned environment for me.

No. It makes me stir crazy on off days. I can't sit still for even minute. There comes the productivity factor.

I smoked pot for years, and then cut it out all together because overall,
I wasn't going where I wanted to in life, and didn't see myself progressing at all.

I did notice that I performed much better (phisically) at work after lunch breaks
when I used to have a toke in the car park, then by the end of the day I'd be hell tired.

So I guess it would have had short term benefits in the gym,
but I doubt it would improve overall gains in terms of long term development and motivation.
    Cheers, Art.

Major BS. I don't think smoking weed increases estrogen enough to give a man femine breasts.

complete bullshit. although it does increase estrogen, the amount of horomone needed to give someone tits could never come from sparking up.
