Eccentric tension is good for any movement.

Isn't full ROM important also? I think both can be good as long as you understand why you are doing what you are doing.
I don't keep tension on the eccentric when I am training for power. I fully extend my arm, hold for a second, and then without rocking or leaning back I blast the weight up. When I train for hypertrophy, I keep tension on the concentric. I go really slow down and up while squeezing the hell out of my bicep at the top of the movement. Both are affective. It all depends on what your goals are. |

![]() I am embarassed to say I missed the second half of the question: yes I agree ROM is important. Also agree more consentration on metabolic stress of concentric with less eccentric is better for powerlifting vs. use of both for BBing. I tend to think more eccentric (vs letting the weight fall) lends to better form although I know that's not always the case. |

I personally don't extend to the fullest extent, but my arms don't naturally hang that way regardless if I am training of not.
It doesn't really matter, but I'm not sure how early you are implying the elbow stops extending. |
