Good Mornings

BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS

I tried good mornings for the first time since I was considering adding it to my routine. This exercise felt more like a stretch to me rather than working the muscle. Do you think my technique is wrong? My feet are shoulder width apart with my toes pointed slightly out. I bring my torso down so that its almost paralell to the ground and I make sure I keep my head foward as if I'm bending down to receive a medal.

I don't like them much, sounds like you were doing them right, if you don't like them I wouldn't worry about not doing them.

Cool

Sound like you doing them right. Those good mornings kill my back, not even deadlifts make my back hurt that much.

I admit to not liking them, I know Bruce Lee did them - but it just digs so hard into my neck/traps AND makes me feel like I'm arching my back in a bad way, that I said no, I'll stick to stiffies.

Man you don’t have to load it up with 225lbs the highest I have ever gone with good mornings is 135 lbs, and that enough for me to not bend my back for three days lol

I agree that it sounds like you do them correctly and when you sayit feels more like a stretch I would say you are partially correct. Exercises like Stiff Deads are really a stretch too (the hammy's and lower back), but stretching a muscle under a load has the same affect as contracting the muscle (well sort of).

I would say don't bother with em if you don't like them, do something else.

Yes he used to do them but he also messed up him back or something doing them, I think it was a nerve or something like that…

Believe me, didn't even try 225! I work with around 275 for most of my stiffy deads, and I really prefer those. Seems like its harder to keep your spine in an optimal position with good-mornings also.

The most I've done for good mornings is 240x3, and while they are tough, they do work the low back and hamstrings pretty hard.I love them.

The bar should be on your rear delts. As if you were doing a low bar or power lifting squat.

If your lower back gives out on squats befor your quads it the exercise to use.

To refuse to learn anything that could prove beneficial to yourself is a working definition of stupid!

High-intensity training is going all-out, not almost all out. It is taking one set to one's absolute limit, not almost to the limit. It is using whatever equipment’s available. It is not the words of two or three men, but a commitment to work as hard as possible while in the gym without socializing, resting excessively between sets, or falling prey to the 'this isn't going to work so I'll copy the star' attitude"
