I see the same on a lot of moves. I wonder the same. I believe in full motion
I know there is a difference between body building and power lifting, but I'm puzzled by the following. Lately I've seen a number of younger lifters at our club performing their exercises in which they do not fully extend their movements. For example: lat pull downs, they may bring the weight down to their chest and contract, but they do not extend their arms all the way straight for the stretch. Am I missing something or are they performing the lifts incorrectly?

Soreness is weakness exiting the body.

i believe in full ROM too but in regards to pullups/pulldowns, with any significant amount of weight i dont believe its a good idea on each rep to stretch out to the point of "relaxing" your shoulder joints with arms straight out... if that makes any sense. i usually get a "clicking" feeling in my shoulders when that happens and it doesnt feel too good
i guess its the same principle as locking out your elbows/knees ?
thoughts?

Straight out? No I wouldn't do that, you would be better served by going to right before lockout though so that you keep tension on the muscles throughout imo.
I only go to full lockout when I'm doing a ridiculously slow eccentric on the very last rep of a set.
