Today was light squats day so I get going on my work sets.
On my current schedule I do light days as follows, the focus is on form and depth.
135x10
185x10
225x10
235x10
245x10
255x10
265x10
Well, normally i just stop at 265 and do my supplimental work but felt pretty good so I continued in 10 pound jumps.
added in 275x10
285x10
295x10
One of my interim goals on heavy day right now is 6-8 good reps with 295 so I guess I can consider that a done deal.
I actually felt like continuing but figured I'd better stick to my guns and keep this an "easy" day. Yeah right. I'm pretty confident I could have repped 305 for 10 the way I felt.
I'm still a long way from getting back a 550 pound squat. But with this cycle I should be seeing 410-420 by the end of march. Then I will back off for a month or so of easy work before starting another heavy phase. I'm also having to move up slowly to keep from aggrivating and old knee injury. So far so good.
I'm just so proud of that 295 set right now I could float off on a cloud. Been a long time coming since my knee injury a couple of years ago. I really had to use some self control to keep myself from adding more and more.
nice lifting man i would love to even hit 315 for a 1 rep max least that is my goal right now for squats

go big or go home
friend " man i am not feeling the gym today" me " all i hear is la la la i am a little bitch"
Thanks! It was painful. 10 reps sets are high reps for me. I am normally doing 4-8 range, primarily 5 rep sets.
i tend to try and stay within that rep range as well, but i know what you mean, if you're having a good day and feeling good then why not push yourself a little?
i use 10 reps for a couple warm up sets then i start packing on the pounds and keep my reps around 5... 500 is a pretty big goal... good luck with that!
