    Help with Biathlon Training

I'm doing a biathlon in a few 4 months that is relatively short, the run being 4 miles. I'm quite good at distance swimming, but I'm a terrible runner. I have a decent mile time of around 7:30, but after that point I hit a wall with running.

Im about to purchase a treadmill, and I was wondering if I were to start running for 1 mile a day for a week, then increase every week, then how much should i increase each week, or would it be better to run a set time each week and log how i improve.

I'm not sure where adfs is (your location), or what would keep you off the roads, but to me, treadmills are boring. I'd save my money, and hit the road. That's where you'll be running right?

I think I'd start out with a mile, and see how you feel. If you feel like you could do more, slowly increase your mileage. I think I'd train for a little longer runs than 4 miles - maybe 5 or 6. Once you've been running at the right distance, then start trying to improve on your time. When race time comes, 4 miles will be a piece of cake!

Try to run on the course you'll be competing on - to familiarize yourself with the easy and tough parts.

I'm no runner, I'm a cyclist, but that's the way I think I'd approach it. Break up your routine to keep it interesting. Run some hills one day, run the flats another, do some sprints, keep it fun if you can. Run with a friend, and push yourselves from time to time.

    good luck.
