Screaming does not by itself give you an edge. Its a bi-product of absolute focus, and INTENSE INTENSITY, blasting thru that barrier!!!!!

I saw something on tv once and they did a test on strenghth with several athletes and all of them had more power when screaming on the given test. Can't remember what the test of strenght was though.

I love to be able to be vocal. I can't really do that at my local gym.

I grunt when I swing in softball. I always time my breathing when I swing so I can explode toward the ball which makes me grunt. I tried to not grunt and it feels very awkward.

As demonstrated in the video screaming helps.

Screaming makes you exhale which relaxes your body.

As my Sensei says,"relaxation is the key to power"

Three reasons we scream in the martial arts, Psyche out our opponent, psyche ourselves up and to remind us to breathe.

It gives you a mental edge at least its like total focus and intensity and the scream is the result of that, so a mental edge but not physical.
