i am just starting to bench, but it seems a bit hard like i can only do
2 times with 25;s on each side.
will doing regual or elevated push ups help me get better start to benching.
also what way is better elevated or reg

ha dont worry bro, when i first started 2yrs ago i was only benching 70lbs. for my max haha. now i'm up to 285. my advice is to get a good routine(read stickies) and get a halfway decent diet and like i said a good training routine. also dont give into all the crap overhyped supplements in the supplement haystack that has been built. on 25% of the supps out there will benifit you ;) . goodluck

Tombomb if you think benchin seems hard you should start with pushups. Do regular pushups first, try doing more and more pushin your self each time to do more pushups then before. Then you can raise the difficulty of the pushups by doing them elevated, and by keepin good form and high intensity. Then you can even up the level of difficulty a bit up by layin someone on your back while you do a regular pushups. after you gain strength on your chest try benchin with low weigths to work on your form and just keep improving. Good luck man and keep read those stickies.

If you are just starting out, doing a weight you can only push twice is dangerous.

Use pushups, and less weight on the bench. It's not a dick measuring competition, train smart, consistently, and hard - youll get there in the end.

Go lower weights, try 10s on each side see how many you can do. :)

Like what was said start with different variations of pushups. If the bar itself isnt to heavy you can use it. But you may want to start with reps in the 10-15 rep range to develop tendon and joint strength.

if you want to grow in the bench you should start now at the beginning by developing the kinetic chain as well as just getting in and benching. what are the most important factors in the bench, a strong back and strong triceps. so besides bench, start developing up those areas as well as learning the correct form and you'll be fine.
