Isolates are my weapon of choice, hydrolyzed proteins usually lack in the taste department yes.

You called it. It is not worth the hype. Isolate works well. So does food.

I just get the 5lb bag from Sams of EAS. Not worth the hype. You should be getting most of your protein from whole foods. I only take a shake right after a workout if I cant eat and if I see closer to the end of the day I may be lacking some cals and/or protein.

Just go with the cheapest you can get that doesnt have soy and a taste you like.

Protien shakes are a great additon to any diet reigmen. However a lot of people abuse the use of protien products and get carried away with the different types of protien.

Yes isolate may digest and absorb quicker, but will it really give you different results? Not really.

Whey/BCAA's (+ carbs) are pretty much seen as the gold standard for post workout, but will it be the death of you if you have whole foods instead (or another protein)? Nope.

The best thing? Depends on the person. I have clients who do better on whole food meals than taking taking shakes.

A lot of factors come into play

But a good start would be 20-40 gm of whey, 30-60gm of carbs post workout.

I respond well with a shake.
Here is my post work out regimen:

20gm wheytobuildmuscle, 40gm wsm
30 min later- cup oats, 20 gm wheytobuildmuscle

1.5 - 2 hours later: next whole food meal on my list. Most of the time it is 10 oz chicken, 1.5 c rice, 1 TBSP mac oil

I have a protein shake straight after my workout. (Within a hour after my workout)
I recommend Optimum Health Ultimate Whey Protein (Strawberry Flavour)
