If you died today would you go to heaven or hell?

I was raised believing there is a god and satan, and I will always believe that. I dont try and push my beliefs on others because I feel people are big enough to make their own decisions. As of right now I am not sure where I would be going. I havent been the best husband, I havent been the best friend, I havent been the best overall person. But as I was taught god forgives and forgets.

I am a confirmed Catholic.

I will admit though, through all of my doubting of the faith, the 30 minutes after I leave church is one of the best feelings I have ever felt. I have no explanation for it other than the fact that there is a greater power and he's trying to tell me something. That being said, I haven't been to church in years, but this thread is making me think twice about it.
 
I guess you would consider me an atheist, however I do have spiritual beliefs, just not in Christianity or any other organized religion.

But from your statement you seem to be bashing him for his non-belief in religion from his readings. It seems as if a lot of religious people have a holier than thou attitude about other peoples beliefs, and have no fear in expressing that.

I would definitely go to heaven. I'm a virgin, never done drugs or alcohol, don't gamble, treat everyone as thy neighbor, never stolen anything and last but not least....Never tugged on the old cock and balls.

No my problem is not with those who have actually researched and spent many countless hours thinking and pondering over it as I have.

If you can simply not perceive that such a being can exist. Then fine.

But it's arrogant assholes who think they are so damn smart because
they "see the truth" that piss me off.

So many atheists think they have "the answer". But really they don't know shit. And most of the time they know nothing about religion or anything in regards to a pantheon.

I have dwelled in meditation and held long conversations with others who have done the same many times. And no intelligent person that I have ever met, has come to the conclusion that nothing more exists.

It's funny how closed-minded people are. Hell you think this is all real?

We don't know shit. We know less than a billionth of the knowledge that could be gained just about our own planet let alone the solar system and beyond.

SO then your ideas of religion are based on opinions instead of knowledge. That's a shame ... because if you have a religious perspective that has no foundation then you cannot really claim to be religious at all. You are just opinionated.

I used to be catholic, but I overslept.
Anyway, I believe in god, the son of god, the devil and a soul and I believe what happened in the bible for the most part.
If i had to answer this question of whether or not, heaven or hell-I'm hoping I go to heaven. I honestly think I will but who knows. I have this vision that I go to heaven and am reunited with my relatives whom have passed on.

Yes, I think Catholicism is one of the stupidest branches of Christianity.

Any religion where you have to go through someone else to speak with your god is pitifully retarded.

You are soooo wrong you do not even know what right is. Religion is the word of God ... supposedly ... not opinion. Contemporary religious knowledge comes from the study of the Bible, the Qu'ran, the Torah, the Old Testament, the dead sea scrolls and so on not what you read in an internet forum or heard f. When I say "instead of knowledge" I mean that you have substituted that study with "Yes, some. I have mostly studied my own thoughts and learned the wisdom of others though". What you have is OPINION ... not knowledge. This is not even debatable Brach ... it is fact. Study religion so that you can then have an informed opinion based on religiously ordained canonized "knowledge".

I never studied scripture, I studied historical events that shaped religious history. I wanted to know what really happened to create the religious institutions of today. Why do Muslims hate Jews? Why do Christians feel they are morally superior in their positions on issues of ethical jurisprudence? That shit bothered me so I made a point of finding out ... you should too.

While studying religious history I also learned some things from the various religious texts just from exposure. If this thread goes there I'll continue ...
