sleep

If you are making a thread with numbers involved, don't fucking use numbers as a replacement for words made from letters. God damn!

And -

It is different for everyone. Ideally you will want to go to bed between 10-11 and get up at 7-9 according to your circadian rhythm. Myself and others have found that these are prime hours to feel best rested and clear of mind.

However, there are differentials depending on where are are located due to sun exposure and some other variables.

12 hours of sleep is slothful. Set your alarm. Get your ass out of bed.

Carpe Diem!!

He's right. Get your body used to a solid circadian cycle based on 8-9 hours of sleep per night. Not only does it make a difference if you don't oversleep, but you also need to be sleeping the same hours every night, even on the weekends for maximum benefit.

If you oversleep your body doesn't really let itself wake up all the way during the day. The best way to get used to waking up ealier, and not having much trouble getting out of bed when the alarm goes off is once your alarm goes off immediately get out of bed and walk around a bit, the more you lay there the more you'll be tempted to go back to sleep. Also get a glass of cold water down, it's good for that very necessary morning rehydration, plus your body gets a bit of an oxygen boost, on top of all that the cold liquid going into your stomach will help wake you up. Then take a shower immediately. After you've been awake for a solid hour then have your first meal of the day consisting of healthy slow digesting carbs like oats and fruit.

Let some sun into your room, have a window undraped so when the sun rises it can shine on your face or at least illuminate your room. There is a little pea sized gland in your brain called the pineal gland that interacts with your eyes and when the sunlight filters through your eyelids it will trigger the pineal gland to let you know it's time to wake up. It's a chemical process involving things including 5-HTP, seratonin, and melatonin.

Also studies have been done over and over again that prove people get better sleep at night regardless of what kind of shift they keep and for how long. Staying up 'till 2:00am sorry to say is not efficient at all. I would say 11pm at the latest would benefit you greatly, and help you be better suited for waking up at a decent time. Just because you're getting 8 hours of sleep doesn't mean all that sleep is effective and beneficial. People who sleep the same number of hours, and the same hours of night every night get much better sleep than people who get just as many hours but have their sleep schedules changing all the time.

Hope some of this helps.

yeah but he's a teenager man, when i was that age i was gettin 12-14 hours sleep a day, damn it there was a week i had a ounce of hash, didnt get out of bed the whole week

Kids need more sleep. about 10 hrs at your age.

I don't think at 16 you'll need more than 9 hours of sleep. I used to operate on less than that my entire time at high school, which was age 13-17 for me.

Nice article. I think if teens were getting 9 hours of sleep every night 7 days a week that article wouldn't apply. It would seem it's more geared toward the party animal kids that stay out all hours and still get up for school at 7:30am every day, then get a lot of off schedule restless drunken sleep on the weekends.

I used to sleep a lot as a teen, then again I still love to sleep, but I could never lay in bed for 12 hours anymore my body starts to get achy after 10 hours....

If you get on a healthy sleep cycle you will be able to type complete sentences. I have heard of research showing substituting numbers for words is a sign of the brain matter breaking down.

Dear god... then what can we deduce from 'leet speak'? :gosh:

Oh what the fuck. When I was going to high school I had to get my ass out of bed at 5:30AM to make it to school by 7

Wow. I'm definitely chronically sleep deprived.

Did kids years ago not go to school until noon or something? I don't understand how children haven't always been sleep deprived.

I think you should stay awake for 7days until you start to hallucinate and go mad....

That would be cool

They don't realize they are sleep deprived. I was sleep deprived for 23 years. It wasn't until about a year ago that my neurologist figured out what the problem was and put me on a medication to fix me. My grades, training, and mental focus all took a quantum leap once I started sleeping 8-10 hours a night.

I try to hallucinate that these posts are interesting

Most days I feel fine on 6 hours of sleep, do I still need 8-10?

I don't know. Only you know your body. My body performs optimally with 8 to 10 hours of sleep. you might be different.
