I thought Ironman was pretty darn good. Definitely worth the price of admission. Maybe the best comic to hit theaters.

Ghostrider was good, too. A bit cheesy here and there, but still good.

Just saw it. Decent super hero movie. One of the better ones I've seen.

For the first time I had to tell someone to shutup in the theatre. This group talked through the first 20 minutes nearly non stop. Kicking the chairs, trying to whisper with their friends across the theatre. Buncha wanna-be thugs.

They zipped it, though.

This is the first film owned by a Marvel comics studio, there may be better movies to come.

I can see a Hulk vs. IronMan and an Avengers movie in the future.

avengers, that is what it was called...

was that this captain america, iron man, and some other dudes?

and wasn't there something with ice man, spider man and firestar?

Not to be confused with S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Avengers had IronMan, Thor, The Vision, Caption America, Wonder Man.....a few.

The Avengers is a superhero team that appear in the fictional Marvel Universe. The team, comprising existing Marvel characters variously created by writer-editor Stan Lee, artist and co-plotter Jack Kirby and others, first appeared in The Avengers #1 (Sept. 1963).
Tagged by the company as "Earthâ??????s Mightiest Heroes", the Avengers originally consisted of Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk. Almost from inception, however, the roster has been fluid - the Hulk departed [1] and Captain America joined the team within the first four issues of the series.[2] The rotating roster has become a hallmark of the team, although one theme remains consistent: the Avengers fight the foes no single superhero can withstand - hence their famous cry of "Avengers Assemble!" The team has featured humans, robots, gods, aliens, supernatural beings and even former villains.

If you have a shield Movie you will have Iron Man vs The Hulk. When they release the hulk they always have to go in there and beat the shit out him to get him to calm down. At least in the more recent Ultimate version of Marvel, which I think they should aim for.

And I am guessing they are going for the Ultimate S.H.I.E.L.D. because they made Nick Fury black.

99% of people dont know who Nick Fury is let alone that he was originally white and made black in the Ultimate universe.

I know who he is but I missed the Ultimate Universe part.
If they converted him to another nationality in the comics I am a little OK with it but to do it in the movies...nah.

I hate what they did with the Kingpin, don't get me wrong, he was physically built like the Kingpin but damnit.....the Kingpin was White!

I might add that the person used as Nick Fury is the most overused actor in Hollywood....love him as an actor but much like my favorite meal I am getting sick of him.

I just brought Spiderman's whole comic book collection on DVD.
I should be getting it soon.

WoW!

One of many notable differences between Ultimates and many other comics is the edgier and darker elements that Millar has written in to them. This can be especially seen in the characters, which are quite different than their mainstream counterparts. Captain America is more violent and pragmatic, Nick Fury is notably fiercer and scorns oversight of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hank and Janet Pym share an abusive relationship and Tony Stark is a womanizing drunk with a flamboyantly gay butler. Bruce Banner is written as a far more self-conscious, socially-inept individual and Betty Ross as careerist, manipulative and self-indulgent, a source of their frequent relationship woes. The Hulk is frequently depicted as a murderous sociopath whose rage leaves little concern for civilian casualties. Nick Fury and Janet Pym, both previously depicted as Caucasian in mainstream Marvel comics, have their ethnicities adjusted to give the team a more multi-cultural tone (with Fury as an African-American and Janet an Asian-American).

Yea, its a cool series. They have some more adult oriented issues.

not much into the newer comics. i really dont like the marvel knights series. some of the ultimate stuff aint bad. the new avengers are kinda cool like the addition of toxin. if you want a good laugh check out nick fury agent of shield. the hoff plays nick fury. one scened the eye patch is on the wrong eye.

I also dislike the new stuff.
I once brought a Spidy comic book a while ago only to notice they drew him as an amine character.

I don't know how much I would have liked Iron Man if RDJ wasn't playing the lead role.

Marvel Studios Sets Four More Release Dates!

Source: Marvel Entertainment
May 5, 2008

Marvel Entertainment released their first quarter report to its shareholders this morning to coincide with the announcement about the success this past weekend of Marvel Studios' first production Iron Man, which grossed an estimated $104.2 million domestically and over $201 million worldwide. The announcement included an update of Marvel Studios' feature film slate with the already-rumored Iron Man 2 announced for a release on April 30, 2010, followed by three more movies for the summers of '10 and '11. Matthew Vaughn's Thor is set for a release on June 4, 2010, and The First Avenger: Captain America (the working title) will kick off the summer of 2011 on May 6, followed by the highly-anticipated and foreshadowed The Avengers scheduled for July 2011. (Edgar Wright's Ant-Man is also listed as being in development with no release date set.)

In a conference call this morning, Marvel Studios' David Maisel said that Iron Man 2 will be used to introduce Thor. Regarding more "Hulk" movies, Maisel said "We definitely plan on continuing." He added that development continues on Spider-Man 4. "I can't give any other updates other than to say it's in development and everybody's excited about 'Spider-Man 4,'" he said.

With that in mind, one can start expecting a lot more announcements in the coming months about creative teams and casting for those movies including who might direct the Captain America and Avengers movies. (Whomever plays Steve Rogers AKA Captain America presumably will be making two movies at once.)

huh have you heard any thing about the venom movie? i have heard a little buzz but not much.

I saw Ironman last night and was quite fucking pleased! I can see ANYONE liking this movie, besides comic fans. Wish they used this type of directing with video game movies. I couldnt believe Favearu (sp?) did so well.

Ill have to agree with what someone said about the last fight being too short. It was. And I know it will kill replay value.

If a movie is going to be over 2 hours long, its gotta have more action. Take ALIENS for example. There is so much going on from the get go, you hardly have time to get bored.

LOTR on the other hand lacks action throughout, but has gigantic climaxes.

All in all, I would say I was more impressed or as impressed with Ironman as I was with Spiderman.

Just saw it.
It was great!! Robert Downey did a great job....the whole cast did a great job!
Loved his Iron suit, the computer stuff...
The scene with the jets....the way he killed those arabs in one shot!

I cried!

I agree, minO. Not only that, but the writing was very sharp. The very small sub-plot between Tony and the fire extinguisher was funny as hell!

That had my kids and the theater laughing, the other part that made me laugh was when the guy tried to shoot Stark on the back of his head and it ricochet back into his head killing him.
