I can only squat about 50 lbs on the smith machine. I might be able to go heavier, but I am scared it will hurt my knees in the long run. I also deadlift twice per week...what else can you recommend in terms of training?
Does your gym have a power rack? If so, just use that and set the stop at the proper level to catch the bar if you "fail." If it really bothers your neck a lot, you could use a towel or a pad...
