I know there's lots of car enthusiasts here so I'm gonna post my worklog and ask that all those who know about cars to help. I don't know squat about cars and could use the help.

Here's the car I'm gonna model it after.

This PC Mod is for my In Laws. Since CLOWNED is complete and a present for my mom, I thought my In laws should get a mod too, to replace their 500MHz Gateway. They or my wife have no knowledge of this project. Thus far I only have the following components:

(1) 80GB Seagate HD
(1) AMD Opteron 165 (1.8GHz) Dual Core
(1) Green Aspire X-Discovery Case

I will act as though the top of the case is the hood. Since I have limited ability in making a good looking scoop, I will be mounting an engine in the top of the case. The engine is the Dodge 426 Hemi. I want to tie in a 20mm fan that once cooled the Northbridge chipset to the crank. I'm hoping it will spin the engine fan without makiung it fall apart, but I won't know till I try.

Here's some concept pics of what I'm looking to do. I used Google Sketchup and then did a print screen to save them as .jpg's. The concept pics aren't final. I still need to add the stripes to the concept pics.

And so it begins again. Join me on an adventure.

Here's pics of the components. I said earlier that I had a Seagate 80GB, but was mistaken; it's a Maxtor 80GB Diamondmax 16.

Here's the modem.

And the Opteron

Today I got the bee decal

And the SuperBee emblem

You're incredibly creative. The R2d2 was my favorite until this. I'd put that black racing stripe and pin stripe down the side under "superbee".

i second the vote for a racing stripe. do u have links to your old builds?

I always like the super bird better, but neat idea -

(Besides "The Bird" is the car that ran the 426 hemi)

That is awesome, The colors are great, but you have to add a spoiler to the back of the case.

what is the fax/modem for? :)

It's just in case. They only have cell phones, no phone lines and cable/DSL isn't available in their area. But if they ever get a phone line, it'll be there.

Also, before I toyed with Sketchup I made this in Photosuite.

I will add the stripe soon and it will look better than the drawings

I got the case in the mail and as you can see it's not nearly as bright of a green as the website showed. But that's great, because it's even closer to the color of the car!

Also, I tested the engine spinning idea with the use of an 80mm fan and it just doesn't have the torque to spin it. There's more ways ahead.

Should try a little RC car motor or something

I took the windowed panel off and disassembled the fan and grill. As you can see they added this nice little piece of mesh too. I won't be reusing the grill, but I do like the mesh.

Another nice feature is the removable mobo tray.

The right panel has an awfully convenient place for the "HEMI" window.

And as you can see I've already begun the painting.

Here's the paint I'm using. A nice flat black.

flat3dj6.jpg

I also cut a small angle to show the bend of the stripe.

I can't stop modding....The stripe on the left is done.

flatstripe1uj0.jpg

flatstripe2pb6.jpg

And I sketched out where the HEMI window will go.

I've been meaning to mention for a long time how nice it is to have this mini spotlight.

lightfq6.jpg

I marked off the width for the right stripe. It has to be identical to the left.

rightstripe1py3.jpg

Then I roughed up the paint....

rightstripe2qv3.jpg

...and slapped it on.

rightstripe3tt4.jpg

Looks good, again.

The motherboard I got is the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D is mine. I still have to get the Video Card, Memory, Heatsink, DVD drive and the front panel LCD.

Here's the right side cut.

rightcutbe6.jpg

I got the logo. It's 6 inches in diameter, the case is 8 inches. The logo here is yellow, but it doesn't matter I just need the black parts. I'll cut away all the yellow and slap it on, then clear coat over it.

Just like the car.

I popped out the drive bay covers and removed the front glass.

bezel1wc2.jpg

Then taped off the front panel

bezel2zf6.jpg

I painted the bay covers separately

bezel3nb4.jpg

Then painted the vents. After it dried I made sure that none of the vents was clogged.

bezel4xm8.jpg

Then removed the paint.

bezel5yx4.jpg

Lastly, I slapped the covers back on.

The DVD drive arrived today

dvd1yx5.jpg

And so did the logo.

After cutting away the yellow....

Here's the final pics. I did add a stripe to the bottom of the keyboard.
