Advice much needed

Hello everyone! I am new here, so I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum.
I am about to turn 53 at the end of June, and I think its time to get off my ass, and get back in shape, but I am LOST when it comes to todays supplements. I figured this would be a great place to get some facts and advice.
Back in 2000-01, I was in pretty good shape. I would spend a couple hours a day in the gym, at least 5 days a week, so I am familiar with what to do and how to do it, but at my age, building muscle is not going to be easy. Can you guys please point me toward something(s) that will help me build muscle without putting me in the hospital with liver failure? And advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes sir, get on a solid diet, high in protein for starters.

Then if you wanted to add some staple supplements, some protein and creatine would be a great starting place. Good luck :)

Thanks for your response. Sorry it took so long to reply, but I had a family emergency. Yes, I would like to try some kind of a cycle, but I don't want anything illegal, nor am I interested in needles. I know just enough about the pharmaceutical side of this to know that I can get myself into trouble with some of it. I am the guy who takes the recommended dosage on just about everything.
I just started working out again a few weeks ago, and I really would like to regain some of the muscle I have lost over the last 16-17 years while sitting on my ass. I am really trying to understand the dieting side of it as well, which I totally ignored before, eating anything and everything. Any recommendations as to what does and does not work, please share. I am sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread, I really should have read a few more threads before I posted anything.
