BALCO gave steroids to Barry Bonds: report

SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - BALCO officials allegedly told US federal investigators that it provided San Francisco giants slugger Barry Bonds with steroids, American newspapers reported.

Court documents obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle described Victor Conte as saying Bonds regularly visited his lab for steroids. Conte has denied the allegation and Bonds has repeatedly denied using steroids.
The BALCO statements described how Bonds complained about the quality of one of the steroid products BALCO was providing.
"Bonds has received the 'clear' and the 'cream' from BALCO on several occasions," the documents quoted BALCO vice-president James Valente as saying.
Valente allegedly went on to say that Bonds does not like how the 'clear' product makes he feel.
Valente told investigators that American chemist Patrick Arnold was the mastermind behind the 'clear' and that Major League Baseball all-stars Benito Santiago, Gary Sheffield and Jason Giambi also used the drug.
Valente, Conte, track coach Remi Korchemny and Bonds' personal trainer Greg Anderson are awaiting trial on charges of distributing steroids and money laundering. The four have all pleaded not guilty.
Anderson also allegedly said he gave performance enhancing drugs to former San Francisco catcher Bobby Estalella and former Giants outfielder Armando Rios.
Anderson told investigators he got the human growth hormone from AIDS (news - web sites) patients who sold it instead of taking it as a presciption.
