i have a problem with my animal pump. it says take a pack 30-45 minutes before workout on a empty stomach. the problem is when can i eat my pre-workout meal. do i eat my meal like 5-10 minutes after i take the pack or do i eat 1-2 hours befor i take the pack. i have been eat my pre-workout meal like 1-2 hours before i train and then 30 minutes befor i go gym i take the pack but as i workout i start to fill hungry and cant train hard.:wits:

That is the problem with any stimulant based preworkout supplement. They all say take on empty stomach for best results. I used to take Nano Vapor(till it gave me diarrhea) on full stomach and did notice that the pumps were less as compared to empty stomach. I increased the dose and got better results(pumps), till I got the runs. However, I think the complex carbs taken 1 hour and the fast acting protein(Whey) 30 minutes before workout are absolutely essential and should not be compromised on. Everything else is optional in my opinion.

My advice- Increase dose of the Animal pump(if possible) & eat as advised before the workout. This will yeild better results in the long run.

90-120 min. pre-workout meal (not a shake), you need something rich in complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, and lean protein. So it provides satiety and you are not hungry during your workout.

Take the Animal Pump 20-30 min. before working out and your stomach should be empty for the effects to kick in relatively fast. :)

thats still alot of time before a workout to be eating, unless you are going to have a huge meal. I would say, eat one hour prior (not a shake), and still take the pack about half an hour before. IMO, you really dont need that much time in between taking the two, although it can become a slight issue if you were to take it much closer than that. When you are trying to fit all these meals in per day, things can get hairy with taking supps.

Times will very OP, just play around with the times of eating/ supplementation and see what works best for you. Personally I enjoy eating my pre-workout meal about 90 min. before the workout, so the nutrients are in the bloodstream and not feeling heavy in the stomach. You don't want to eat to soon and too much before working out or the parasympathetic nervous system kicks in and you have a chance of feeling sluggish.

Im with you on that, but could you also condition yourself for this, or is it purely dependant on your body and what you eat. In other words, if you continue to eat much closer to when you workout, could your body adapt so you wouldn't feel sluggish anymore?

I just ask out of curiosity as I don't notice it unless I try eating within 30 minutes of my workout, and as a result, rarely do it.

I'm not 100% sure, good question though. :) I know when you eat, blood flow increases to the organs of digestion whereas you would usually want as much blood flow to the extremities and muscle tissue while working out. So that's why I tend to avoid it as well as the increase in parasympathetic activity.
