Bettendorf man sentenced in federal steroids case

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa -- A Bettendorf man and two others were sentenced July 28 on federal drug charges.

U.S. District Court Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger sentenced Jeffrey B. Lackas, 31, of Bettendorf, to 46 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids.

The judge also sentenced Stanley Szeto, 39, of Iowa City, to 25 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release and a $6,000 fine and Daniel Cruz-Bonilla, 30, of Fontana, Calif., to 41 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. All three also were ordered to pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund.

According to a news release from U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa, between July 2011 and March 2015, the three operated under the internet name of Brinkkmann Pharma, distributing anabolic steroids and human growth hormones obtained from a source in China.

The Omaha, Neb., Police Department, the Douglas County, Neb., Sheriff?s Office, the Iowa Division of Narcotic Enforcement, the Nebraska State Patrol, the Iowa City Police Department,

the U.S. Border Patrol, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation. The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney?s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

Wow those are heavy sentences for AAS.

You can literally assault someone or committ a real crime and get half that.
