Fox is developing a dating-competition series that casts "average-looking" people.
The series, titled "More to Love," is billed as the first "dating show for the rest of us," throwing open its doors to overweight contestants.
"For six years it's been skinny-minis and good-looking bachelors, and that's not what the dating world looks like," Fox president of alternative Mike Darnell said. "Why don't real women -- the women who watch these shows, for the most part -- have a chance to find love too?"

Fox is developing the project with Mike Fleiss, the producer of ABC's "The Bachelor." Indeed, the project has a similar format to "Bachelor," where a group of woman compete for one man (producers describe him as a "Kevin James-type").
It marks the first time Darnell and Fleiss have teamed for a series in about nine years. The duo's previous dating show was the controversial, groundbreaking 2000 special "Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire?" which set the format template for "Bachelor" and a legion of imitators.
"More to Love" was inspired by the recent ratings success of "Bachelor" and the popularity of NBC's "The Biggest Loser," which Darnell credits with shattering an industry assumption that TV viewers only wanted to watch highly attractive people.
"This show is going to get a lot of people talking," Darnell said. "It may be a little controversial, but I think it will mostly be positive. This is so simple and so obvious, yet it has never been done."
Broadcast reality-dating shows such as the CW's "Beauty and the Geek" and NBC's "Average Joe" have featured less-than-handsome men but paired them with model-esque women.
"Most of the country isn't a Size 2," Fleiss said. "It's the dating show for the rest of us."
Contestants will do the sort of activities seen on "Bachelor," but producers suspect Jacuzzi or massage dates will take on a different perspective. "More to Love" will have makeover aspects -- when contestants wear ballroom gowns, for instance -- but Fleiss said the focus will not be on physical improvement.
"We want to send the message that you can be the size you are and still be lovable," he said. "We aren't going to thin these girls down so they can find love -- that's a backwards message."
But Fleiss has left open the possibility of twists. "More to Love" is casting, and no airdate has been set. For Fox, it marks a return to the relationship genre years after the network aired such shows as "Multi-Millionaire," "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance" and "The Littlest Groom."

All I have to say is finaly, the folks at Hollywood have a heart. ;)

^ That too.

What's next "Who Wants to Marry a Homeless Man"? or "Who Wants to Marry A Deadbeat Dad"?

What's next "Who Wants to Marry a Homeless Man"? or "Who Wants to Marry A Deadbeat Dad"?

Up next, "Who wants to cheat on their wife with the skank next door?"

What's worse:

Watching the Bachelor and having your daughter feel like she needs to exercise, eat healthy and be in good shape to find love.

or...

Watching this new fatso show and having your daughter not care about her unhealthy, early death in the future-like ways because she'll settle for some overweight doofus and find love?

I watch reality shows with good looking people because, for instance, Kim Kardashians luscious vagina is something my penis will never come in contact with.

I watch reality shows with terrible looking, disgustingly fat people like the Biggest Loser to either A. see them fail and laugh or B. see the few that actually succeed and think "how cool."

I can't say whether or not I'll watch this show at this point in time, but a show falling in the middle and trying to get the "average joe" type seems like a disaster waiting to happen to me.

IronMag Labs Prohormones
Reading that article, it doesn't really explain what type of activities the people will have to do in order to stir up drama.

Any ideas?

I'm beginning to agree.

This year, I watched Top Chef, Real Housewives of Orange County, Celebrity Rehab and Sober House and that's it.

For years I was watching Real World, those terrible VH1 reality shows with Flavor Flav, etc.

It just doesn't do it for me much any more.

To me shows reality shows and crap like jerry springer they just rot your brain.

You can't lump all reality shows into the Jerry Springer category, even if his show was one of the more successful ones.

The dating shows don't do it for me, but when they're actually trying to achieve something ala Top Chef, I find it pretty cool.

I also can make a nice dinner for the girlfriend and pass it off as my own meal because of it, so my brain definitely haven't rotted.. yet :D

:paddle:

Awesome....blind dates at Chinese Buffet.
I had a blind date once, my friends set me up with a girl who knew who I was and what I looked like, she'd had a crush on me for a while. I was like cool I have a stalker maybe I will get her to lick my bunghole. When I got to the date and saw her all I could think was, "Fuck I wish I was blind, I wish I was blind, I wish I was blind...." She had a great body it was just that her face ruined it, she had no chin and bug eyes and a mushroom hair-do.....
