Whenever I do intense running such as sprints or playing basketball I get intense calf pumps that stop me from running and is damn near painful. I stay pretty well hydrated.

I'm currently taking five grams a day 2.5 before and after. Do u guys think this is a hydration issue? Should I try a different creatine? Kinda hesitant cuz monohydrate works the best for me.

I wouldnt consider it cramping but rather a pump. It kinda feels like when u have a really bad forearm pump and u cant grip anything because of it.

I think it's more the exercise and not the creatine that's causing the cramps. Dehydration, but more specifically, a lack of electrolytes in your system could also cause cramps, alongside not being used to that sort of training, or a build-up even of lactic acid.

x2 for what Rosie said. Creatine will amplify pumps, but not so much as to cause cramping (through it's intended medium of effects).

Started drinking a shitload more water, eating banana after workout and sprinkling a little extra salt on my meals. Problem is getting much better. Must of been a hydration issue.

i used to have the same problem at night when i would go to sleep i would get horrible calf cramps. Always drank a shitload of water so it wasn't a hydration thing.

still to this day i can't use creatine powders cause it causes the same problems
