Hi there. I'm not new to fitness or dieting, however I am new to 46 and belly fat.

I just am at my wits end. In a matter of months my middle has expanded dramatically and I want to just cry and then I get mad.

I worked in a very physical job until ast June. As a military spouse, we moved and I am now in an office job. I sit all day. I bought a treadmill and elliptical and I have a home gym with weights and a bench.

Sounds perfect, almost. My problem lies in having the energy to consistently stick to my program. I work 7-3:30. I'm up at 4:30 for a 15 min. walk with the dog and then I like to run for 30 min. I've been trying to fit weights in 3-4x a week in the evenings, but I think I am just so tired these days.

Eating is another story. The stress of moving to a whole new community has lead me to breaking rules I've had for years. I never never used to snack at night, now I do. Things like a few crackers, or 20 chips, but it all adds up.

I've given up sugar for 7 days now because sugar is a trigger for me to binge so I'm trying to avoid it.

A days diet, like today would be this:

1c all bran cereal
1/4 oz almonds
1/3c milk

1 orange

1 english muffin w/2oz chicken, 1 tbsp miracle whip lite, 1 oz cheese
vegies and dip
then the binge part of about 20 ritz crackers and 4 tbsp peanut butter (I felt like a slug all afternoon)

1c egg noodles, 2 oz chicken, 1/2c brocolli, sauce made with 1% milk, parmesan cheese and spices, 1/2 white dinner roll (large)

This is not what I would call a typical day. I have been trying to avoid the white stuff.

Anyhow....I'm lost. I don't even know where to start with this whole belly fat thing. I need to get a grip and get a grip fast because it's making me insane!!

Ok, first, take 10 breaths and calm yourself down a little... then head over to the diet & nutrition forum and read some of the stickies...
Don't worry, we'll help you out

Welcome to IM and a little tip, you can't eat what you don't buy!

Hi Molly229! I'm no nutritionist, but it sounds like you could use more protein and healthy fats in your diet. I think that would go a long way towards curbing your cravings. Try 30 min of weights in the morning instead of running. It'll do more for your fitness and help get rid of some that stress too boot. As a plus, the weight training will have your body burning extra calories further into your day than that morning run will ;) . Then go for a run a few evenings a week. It'll help you "wind down" and relax to end your day.
