USATODAY.com - Manning's image could take hit in suit

Manning's image could take hit in suit
By Mel Antonen, USA TODAY
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, who has one of the NFL's most sparkling marketing images, will have to continue defending himself against a defamation lawsuit, the record of which includes a graphic description of an act he is accused of committing against a female assistant trainer while he was at the University of Tennessee.
Peyton Manning says the act in question was harmless, but former Tenn. trainer Jamie Naughright has filed a defamation suit against him.
By Steve Nesius, AP

Manning asked for the suit to be dismissed, but Polk County (Fla.) Circuit Judge Harvey A. Kornstein denied the motion, writing in a ruling filed Monday that there is evidence suggesting Manning knew the 2000 book written by him and his father, Archie, included false statements about the trainer and an incident in February 1996 involving her and Peyton Manning. The trainer, Jamie Ann Naughright, disputes the contention in Manning's book that he dropped his pants and showed his backside to another athlete in the training room "thinking the trainer wasn't where she would see." In Manning: A Father, His Sons and a Football Legacy, he wrote the act was "crude, maybe, but harmless" and that Naughright should be able to "shrug it off."

According to Naughright's deposition, Manning, while being examined by Naughright, placed his "naked butt and rectum" on her face.

In the book, Peyton Manning also wrote of Naughright, "I thought she had a vulgar mouth."

Naughright, who left Tennessee in 1997 as part of a settlement with the university related to the 1996 incident, alleges that characterization led to her losing her subsequent job at Florida Southern College, a United Methodist liberal arts school in Lakeland, Fla.

Archie Manning, ghost writer John Underwood and HarperCollins Publishers Inc. also have been named as defendants. The elder Manning is a former NFL quarterback.

The defendants' New York-based lawyer, Slade Metcalf, declined to comment on Monday's ruling or whether they will appeal. Naughright's lawyer, Robert Puterbaugh of Lakeland, also declined to comment.

The case has been set for trial March 29 in Bartow, the Polk County seat.

Naughright's lawsuit, filed in May 2002, seeks monetary damages.

bahahahahahahahahah :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Dropped his pants to show his ass to another athlete thinking she was where she couldn't see and his sphincter, which I think is the right word not rectum, ended up in her face?

Someone in another forum brought up a good point.

Peyton is 6'5 and this chick could easily be low in the 5 foot range...Peyton could have easily just turned around or something a little too close to her and she got a face full of ass?

hahah either way though, and Peyton is my favorite player btw and has been for a while, (was a Colts fan when Faulk played there), I find this story hilarious.

Manning Face

Whats she so upset about?!? If you were gonna get an ass on your face, wouldn't you want it to be someone famous?

Or maybe she's looking for a handout because she can't hold a job in a field that requires basic knowledge of human anatomy and she claims a mans naked butt and "rectum" was on her face.....
