Do you keep more gains on a cut or a bulk?

What you guys think? This is my first big cut cycle I'm hoping to keep as much of my gains as possible. I only lost about 5 pounds but lost ALOT of bf. Anavar Npp test. I figure bulks are harder to keep the gains but could be wrong.
 
gains are based on what your taken, pct, cruise, and diet. To many variables to say which one is better for keeping solid gains. My recent bulk only thing I lost was slight strength, but nothing to noticeable size is great still and lost 7lbs of water, but put on 28 during the bulk.

On: Bulk, eat more after you go off, expect to get somewhat fatter, little to no strength/mass loss.
 
Cutting is for maintaining, not growing. If you can grow on a cutter you're lucky and have good genetics. OR you could just use an insane amount of tren.
 
There's no single standard by which anyone here can answer your question; there's simply too many variables involved.
