I have a 1997 dodge neon that I want to get smog to sell it. It's has calif emmisions on it. The catalyst converter is no good. Now a replacement for it is $550 that meets calif smog requirements. Auto zone and others sell converters for $100 but says for GOV use only and will not meet CA requirements. Non of the auto parts in calif sell converters for CA cars. You have to buy them from the Dealer or smog shops.
Does anyone know if you were to put on one for GOV used cars if it would pass during the test. Big difference between $100 and $550.
