Does garbage smell all the same way in US?

Everywhere I go garbage smells all the same to me, doesn´t matter if it fruit, meat or any other product. If you let a piece of fruit rotten alone and a piece of meat rotten alone as well they will smell different but somehow if you take those two and put in a plastic bag the familiar barbage fragrance appear.
