?I recently had a very long dispute with my friend about dogs. I really love animals and dogs in particular. But I understand what a big responsibility it is to have a dog, because it becomes the member of the family and requires much attention.
Every time you leave it alone, he/she becomes incredibly sad and lonely. You need to spend a lot of time with them, and make them feel loved.
In general, this is a big responsibility and therefore I cannot have one right now. But my friend has a different opinion, he thinks that I am exaggerating and that I should take it easier. That the dogs are for humans, not vice versa (He's just about to get a new dog) What do you think?

I depends on the animal and what it's life is like. If you pick a dog from your local pound, you're saving it from certain death by injection. I'd think that is better than for the dog to be sad from time to time than to be dead. But you're spot on that if you take a dog or any animal as a pet, you have to take the responsibility for it's care and health as well. I don't have a dog now, he died years ago, my best buddy Fats Domino a big Yellow Lab. Still miss him and the family still tells Domino stories any time we gather and we have many great stories. He was with us for 15 years and I wouldn't trade those times and memories for anything. If you have kids, I think a good dog is almost mandatory.. LOL I know Domino sure helped raise our 4 kids.

I completely agree with you. I was just trying to explain to a friend that getting a dog is a great responsibility act and you need to think well before making this life-changing decision.
