NEW YORK (AP) ??? Drew Carey, Come on down! You're the next host of ???The Price is Right!???
Carey has been tapped to replace the legendary Bob Barker on the CBS daytime game show. Carey confirmed the deal during a taping of the ???Late Show??? with David Letterman.
The selection has attracted more attention than usual for a daytime show because of the prospect of replacing Barker, who retired after 35 years in the job last month.
The opening had attracted widespread interest, including from comic Rosie O'Donnell after she left ???The View.???
Carey spent a decade on his own ABC sitcom and was also host of the comic improvisational show ???Whose Line is It Anyway????

Maybe more watchable than the current Prices Right.

I just don't see Drew as a pimp with the Price's Right Harem like Barker was....

Wow. I wish Drew the best of luck with that. Home town boy gets the retirement day job. Very cool. He has an audience and the cred's to pull it off. Another 35 years of the price is right?

To be honest, I've always been annoyed by Drew Carey.

To be honest, I just never thought he was that funny. What's the deal with him laughing at everything on that improv show? Talk about easy to amuse.

He was good on the Aristocrats.

On Whose Line is it Anyway? he was a good jester to make fun of. He hardly had any witty comebacks, but they were there. I think he was better on that show than on HIS show.

I agree. He's good with a script or with his own stand up, but his improv was downright bad. Still, had he not been the host I think alot of the personality of the show would have been lost

My concern with him hosting The Price is Right is that Drew is a part time, million dollar an episode actor. I would imagine that the Price is Right host gig is a full time, 5 days a week job. I just don't know if he'll be in it for the long run. That plus he's already signed on to host another prime time gameshow sometime soon. He has big shoes to fill, and Bob was as cheerful and lively (relatively speaking... ha!) in the final episode that he was the first episode. He never seemed to tire of his job and just had a timelessness that I think an already established big shot just won't be able to emulate. Personally, I think the current host of Family Feud, John O' Hurley, would have been the perfect personality for the show to keep its image as family friendly entertainment

I wonder if Dan Patrick is pissed now that he quit ESPN?
