A Northern California community has been stunned by the deaths of three family members who drowned when they were swept out to sea by the powerful ocean surf. (Nov. 26)

who threw the damned stick? kinda obvious it wasn't fair weather for a dog to jump in the surf. horrible outcome to a moment of someone just not thinking. a dog is orphaned by three people who loved him enough to go in that surf after him

I live here and surf near that spot regularly. The beach is very steep and rogue waves are very common around here. Just about a month ago a surfer was bit 20 miles from that same spot; tough spot to learn to surf. Very sad.

the swells average 11 ft in the winter in humboldt county and can get up to 30 ft.
