Fan Hits $75,000 Shot, Gets Tackled By LeBron

Published on Jan 25, 2013
LeBron James excitedly tackles a Heat fan after watching him hit a half-court hook shot to win $75,000.

One Miami Heat fan had the night of his life on Friday when he watched his team play the Detroit Pistons.

Not only did Michael Drysch get to witness his team storm to a 110-88 victory, he also netted himself a $75,000 prize when he became the first person to ever score in the 'Half-Court Hero' contest.

The 50-year-old computer technician sunk the shot with a half-court hook during the break at the end of the third quarter.

And the ecstatic fan's night was topped off when LeBron James raced onto the court, giddy with delight, to tackle Drysch with a bear hug.

The pair ended up in a heap on the floor before James pulled the stunned Drysch to his feet again.

'When he wound up I was like, 'Oh no, there's no way,'' James said. 'When it dropped, that was awesome. I would have probably air-balled that one in that situation.'

The contest in which Drysch managed to sink the unbelievable shot is staged by one of James' sponsors, Carmex, and as well as the fan receiving $75,000, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, an organization that provide after-school programmes for young people, will receive the same amount.

Drysch had a practical approach to the cash prize, saying it would be going towards fixing his car and paying the bills.
