Regarding fish oil & flaxseed oil. I realize it's an essential part of your daily diet, but is the dosage the same for everyone? I have my workouts and diet down, but I'm am not taking any essential oils.... So, I'm thinking I need to start, but don't know quantity, X's daily other than what is printed on the bottle. Is there a sticky on this somewhere?

Thanks!

My doctor told me that 10 Fish Oil Caps is equal to an 8 oz. fillet of Salmon in actual fish oils. So that's what I take, but I'm not the expert here.

Ok - so do you take them all at one time??

Also, I've noticed there are 500 ml and 1000 ml .... have you noticed any difference after you started taking them?

I split it in 2 doses, but my DR. said it shouldn't really matter. I buy mine from Costco they are 1000mg Fish Oil. I really love Fish Oil and I think I notice a difference, either way it helps with your Cholesterol so take it anyways. Also I have heard people have lost 5% more fat then a placebo group not taking any form of omega 3's. If you have a warehouse store like Costco or Sam's Club they sell them in 400 tab bottles so it last's 40 days.

Awesome - we do have a Costco. I'll have to check that out - I noticed at GNC that they weren't very costly (even if GNC is a rip-off) But Costco should be better!

Thanks :thumb:

you should take them with some type of fat or they do not serve their full purpose.

Type of fat, as is... . almonds?? Low Fat Cheese.. does it matter?

Why do they work better this way? :hmmm:

essential fatty acids. almonds are a good source of EFAs. i am not sure about the specifics. my wife is the clinical dietician. i just do what she says. i can find out some specifics for you later. she did say if you are not getting 15-20% of your diet from fat then you need a good multivitamin. certainly not saturated fat.

Ok - well, I think I'm a tad below of the 15-20%.... the only other fat that I am taking in would be the chicken, tuna or other lean meat. I only put the almonds in for meal #3. I do take a multi-vitamin, glutamine and creatine, so with the fish oils tabs plus flax seed, I'm thinking I should be good!

Thanks!

My 2 cents:

10-15g fish oil (or more if you're a bigg'un) in split doses; I take 5 before each meal. If you want to add flax, make that 5-10g. As mentioned, they are best taken with other fats, but if your meal isn't too fatty, take the fish oil anyway. If you take any other fat-soluble supplements (SesaThin, Vitamin E, Rebound XT, etc.) this is also a good time to take those.

Ok - so right now, I'm taking 2 g fish oil, 1 g flax at one of my meals. Should I be taking more??? I'm 130 lbs, 5'4" female - 48 yo and of course, my object is to gain more mass :hmmm:

if nuts are one of ur source of EFAs, try walnuts instead of almonds or anything else. walnuts taste not that good but still

At your weight, that sounds fine. You could bump the fish oil up to 3 caps per meal if you like. Depending on your setup and other meds, you might notice some changes in your menstrual patterns with the higher fish oil doses. Some people find the changes agreeable and others don't care for them, so take your cues from your body and adjust the dosage accordingly.

I'll see how that works - I just wanted to be sure I was taking enough in to produce the correct results...:)
