Future Yankee Joe Mauer wins MVP

He deserved it, that Seattle writer is an idiot.

I say if Mauer does become a Yankee because of free agency....then something needs to be done.

You're right something needs to be done.

The Yankees also need to sign a couple of stud pitchers to throw to him. Greinke and Lincecum come to mind.

Of course if the Yankees let Johnny Damon walk, they can replace him with Jason Bay for an extra 8-10 mill per season.

Boston can afford him, if they do let him go I doubt they would get another free agent as good as him for anything less.
That won't be good for Boston.

I would prefer BAy over Holliday.

Au contraire.

Minneapolis Star Tribune:

The Twins are hoping they'll be able to keep catcher Joe Mauer, who was crowned the American League MVP on Monday, in Minnesota for quite some time.

His current four-year, $33 million deal is set to expire after the 2010 season and the Twins would prefer that he doesn't hit the free agent market.

"I knew I'd probably run into a question like that," Mauer said during his MVP press conference when asked about his future. "I've always said it will take care of itself when it needs to."

The Twins have been in contact with Mauer's agent, Ron Shapiro and the Star Tribune writes that they hope to have an extension done with the catcher by Christmas.

"We're going to do everything we can to keep him as a Minnesota Twin," said first baseman Justin Morneau. "The biggest thing now isn't the money. It's going to be whether or not he feels we can win every day with the talent we have."

Joe Mauer is a good human being.

Outside of Sabathia, what non-narcissistic free agent have the Yankees signed in the last decade or two?

Stay in Minnesota, Joe!

Damon, Tex, Matsui, AJ, Mussina, Catfish....your relation to the Yankees stars as Narcississtic is just jealousy. Sure we had/ have outr share of primma donnas but that comes with the territory of having a star. Clemens, Johnson, Arod, Jackson were all big egos but who wouldn't want them.

Joe Mauer would make a great Yankee, in the tradition of great catchers he would be a great asset to our team.

Dickey, Berra, Howard, Munson, Posada and Mauer....He would be great in pinstripes.

News From the Future ??? December 12, 2010: Yankees Sign Joe Mauer

We all knew when the Yankees signed Jorge Posada to his final three-year deal before the 2008 season that they might have been angling for something else. The career-Yankee has had an outstanding career for the Bronx Bombers, and was given a huge standing ovation during his last regular-season game at Yankee stadium.
Today, the Yankees announced they have come to terms with former Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer for a record 6-year, $192 million contract. Including a $25 Million signing bonus, the Yankees will pay Mauer an average of $32 Million a year for the next 6 years to bring the catcher to the Bronx.
???It???s always been a dream of mine to play for the Yankees,??? Mauer said to the media. ???I???m excited to be part of such a winning tradition.???
Coming off back-to-back World Series wins in 2009 and 2010, the Yankees addition of Mauer makes them even more formidable as opponents. With Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez and Mauer in the same lineup, the Yankees might have one of the best offensive teams of all time.

dont be jealous that boston and its sports are going to the dumps

yanks are either gonna get mauer or pujols

cards cant afford pujols right now

yanks will also get carl crawford and probably resign javier vasquez if joba or phil needs more years to develop

yankees will no doubt become the first 3 world series chamipons in decades

2009
2010
2011

holiday

120 million dollars

albert will need 30 mill a year

cards cant afford 2 players at 50 mill

that is why i am hoping for cards and twins to get off to bad starts
that way the players want to go to a winning team

same with cavs and lebron james

There's no way they won't sign Holiday and not have enough left for Pujols.
Holiday isn't half the player Pujols is.

Min0's right.

They signed Holliday knowing full well what it will take to bring Pujols back. If you can only have one, Pujuls is it.
