Can you buy it at the grocer or do you have to go to a farmer's market type place? This is def. worth a shot

I thought that this was pretty common knowledge? That's why you give sick kids gingerale and most OTC anti-nausea medications are made from ginger extract.

I have horrible motion sickness. My mother use to make me take a spoonful of ginger before car trips. It didn't help much with the motion sickness, but my vomit had a nice aftertaste.

we used it in Cancun when we went out on boats, it does help, the nice thing about it is there are no side effects, and yes it's a readily available OTC herb.

Yeah, it's actually good for you! When I was a little kid my mom had a container of candied ginger in the cupboard for when we didn't feel good.

They always give it to you w/ sushi -- which I love Though it scares me to think that you "need" it to eat sushi to avoid getting an upset stomach. Never tried it w/o.

As far as settling your stomach - I used to work dive boats as a dive master on the weekends in S. Florida. There'd always be someone who forgot to take their Dramamine/Triptone (motion sickness pills) early enough to make them work while they're on the boat (need at least an hour) - so we kept ginger root onboard to help settle a stomach very quickly.

You can find Ginger root pills in most nutrition aisles.
