Not if part of your deed is to bring awareness to the situation....plus CNN followed him on their own.....You lose all kudos on a good deed as soon as you bring a camera crew with you.

Sean Penn doesn't need charitable publicity to keep his career alive, he's a damn fine actor who'd get movies without leaving his home.....I think all he wants is to shine some light on the dire situation Haiti is facing, what better way than have CNN follow you around with camera's.....
I don't blame him for going with a full boat in NOLA, he wasn't qualified to rescue people, had anything happened while trying to rescue people he'd have faced lawsuits....helping the qualified officials pinpoint survivors was the best move, also he documented the tragedy....I think he may have a bit of journalist envy, but that doesn't make him a horrible person....again those are the ones hiding behind comfort when they have all the riches and time in the world to do the same....And towing his own photo crew around was so philanthropic. Never mind that leaving them behind would have made more room for the people he was supposedly trying to save. Giving how he's shown that he likes to be seen while doing "good", I'm sure he made no mention to CNN of going to Haiti.![]()

I really don't give two craps about what his intentions are in Haiti. I wish it had been obliterated instead of just damaged a little then I wouldn't have to listen to all the bullshit about it anymore. I'm really sick and tired of hearing everybody and their mothers crying "oh poor Haiti" so if Sean Penn is using them for publicity than more power to him cause it's about time someone stopped kissing their asses.
With his name more people will take notice of the tragedy, we hadn't talked about it in weeks until this was posted so obviously it's having that effect....Since, unlike other celebrities, he goes out to feed his ego, that makes it good?
Document the tragedy? Because the multitudes of cameras and reporters in New Orleans and Haiti weren't quite cutting it.
He felt it was more important to have a photographer in his small boat than another spot for a victim.
Oh, yeah, he's sincere...right...
because of voodoo the Haitians deserved the wrath of god
Really? and all this time I thought it was the french getting back at them for gaining their "independence" from them. This conspiracy stuff has take over. Capital of haiti destroyed by the earthquake, Dominican Republic untouched..cool coincidence. YEA!!!!!!!!
If they want to be an independent country then they need to take care of their own shit. I don't know if they asked for help or not, but either way, we don't need to be sending thousands and thousands of dollars to a bunch of little assholes that are using it to fund crime, when our own country is already in debt.
It is not my fault they got hit by an earthquake, or that where the hell ever got hit by tsunami, I shouldn't have to pay for it.
Do you realized that there are children right here in the us that eat out of dumpsters, and don't have a pair of shoes to put on their feet? Or that there are us soldiers, people who wrote a blank check to this country up to and including their life, and they can't get health care or can't feed their families? This country needs to get it's friggn priorities in order, and take care of all of it's fallen patrons in this country before it goes around placing band-aids on the rest of the world.

We are the richest most capable Nation the world over, we have been helping other less fortunate nations since way back...We do what we can to care for our less fortunate at home, how many people are on Welfare, people can get gov. aid for housing, we train people for jobs....and guess what we try to rebuild fallen countries in an attempt to keep a massive influx of illegal aliens from swarming in and taking the menial jobs starving families native to our country need to survive. Imagine if we didn't help these 3rd world sesspools, they'd just over flow and pour into our semi-pristine pool. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure...
Now as far as taking care of our soldiers and others like them who have served the nation with honor, we could easily remedy that by not spending so much on other military expenditures.....I don't know if you have seen the pie chart on US budget but the amount we spend in the Defense Department is mind blowing....
I think if we paid every soldier, sailor, marine and airman a percentage of pay by year after discharge for life or full pay for service after retirement, or after disability or even death(to the families) it would stimulate them to put their best efforts forward it would also attract a much more intelligent group, college bound kids.....I'm not saying all of those serving now are morons, but with better benefits we'd have a brighter more capable armed forces willing to put a little extra ommph into their service. No weapon can replace a well greased organization of people....

Still a catastrophic event, where lifes were lost. Whether is in atlanta or haiti, we are still human. To have sympathy its completely normal and it has no borders. What your complaining about is the same thing many agree on , the united states should fix their own problems before they go all over the world and get into other countries business. Hell I even agree with it but I see no need to be so negative against a event like the earthquake on haiti where so many experienced hell on earth. Earthquake here in Chile left many dead and without home, just happend a couple of months ago. Its horrible how a couple of minutes can dramatically change many lifes and leave people homeless.
