I haven't even looked yet so i really shouldn't ask the question but.. i will anyway

Is transferring video's off of a camera to a computer as simple as connecting your camera to the computer with a cord?

No, you need software to do it - and if its a camcorder you will have to edit it and set some parameters as far as resolution, FPS, and if the software offers different compression types you will have to select that as well.

Most cameras (not camcorders) already format the file in whatever junky compression settings they use as well as FPS.

This sounds like it is going to be MAD confusing.. I guess i'll just see 2mar0 :-\

I used a Panasonic-miniDV last fall quite a bit, and couldn't find a
suitable program that would ever compress the video enough
to post online

:(

I ended up giving back the CAM, because it was such a headache...

Please don't let this discourage you though...

... I may just be a dumbass

Is there any other way i can get a video, and post it online, other than a camera? Lol...

I mean camcorder... i should get a webcam...

Or use my brothers camera phone

Thats what I had, I forget the model number though. I have webspace where I storted it. You can use Microsofts Windows Media Encoder and it can compress quite a bit - until you wont even want to watch it, there are plenty of compression options.

I have also used the DivX codec to compress.

Oh, I was able to post the video...

But a finished, edited, video, would be like 80mb
and who wants to sit around and let that up, and download -

I thought you might have meant lifting clips or something.

80 megs is like 10 minutes, what exactly were you doing? My raw uncompressed bench press clip was about 80 megs at 752x480 I think.

Yeah...

This was 4-6mins

I guess my editing software did nothing to compress the files...
(even though it was supposed to)

Don't matter, MPEG7 HD cams are the future

I think you need to worry about learning basic computer skills before you get into hd video. ;)
